Female Metal League Fest drie dagen voor aanvang onbepaald uitgesteld zonder reden

Drie dagen voor aanvang wordt het Female Metal League Fest in Lessines uitgesteld.

Er is geen reden gegeven waarom dit het geval is, noch is er informatie over een nieuwe datum of eventuele terugbetaling van aangekochte tickets. Wij ruiken echter een afzegging in het verschiet, want ook geboekte bands weten van niks. Heel slecht nieuws voor fans van dit genre metal. Onze gok is dat er niet genoeg tickets verkocht zijn en financiële problemen zich de kop opsteken, een fenomeen waar we gisteren ook al over konden berichtten bij toerende bands.

Updates:

- Ook bands zijn pas gisteren gecontacteerd geweest met de melding dat het festival dit weekend niet doorgaat (het woord 'cancelled' is zelfs gebruikt, niet 'postponed'). Onder andere Attraction Theory en zelfs headliners Tarja en Lacuna Coil kregen net als het publiek geen reden of extra uitleg. Ook zij zijn compleet in het ongewisse en kregen geen informatie over een verplaatsing. Laatstgenoemde band is zelfs als headliner niet betaald en hebben er geld aan verloren (voorbereidingen getroffen, inkomsten gemist).

- De hetze omtrent dit festival gaat verder. Sommige bands hebben zelfs geen contract gekregen, zo blijkt uit een statement van de band Volturian. Ze waarschuwen de mensen die een ticket kochten hun geld terug te eisen.

- Ondertussen staat ook op Ticketmaster dat het evenement afgelast is en niet uitgesteld, maar terugbetaling is voorlopig nog geen optie. Het lijkt het nieuwe Eurorock te worden...

- De organisatie cancelt het festival. Onze voorspelling zat er knal op: er zijn veel te weinig tickets verkocht. Slechts zo'n 300 per dag, terwijl volgens de organisatie de festivallocatie zo'n 1000 bezoekers aankan. Wie een terugbetaling wil, moet contact opnemen met Ticketmaster, die vanaf nu terugbetalingen doen. De mededeling van de organisatie is als volgt:

"Cancellation of the 2022 edition of FMLF

As you saw yesterday, we have been forced to give up hosting the FMLF this weekend. This announcement has disappointed many... starting with us.
Why such a decision so close to the festival date? Let's be transparent, it's for one reason and one reason only: the almost total absence of presales! Many festivals of this kind are in the same situation. Some have already announced the cancellation.
The program of the FMLF is good, the promotion was well done, the festival site is beautiful. But the current context is unfavourable to such an organisation, especially if it is new.
We had a choice between two possibilities. The first was to maintain the event on the planned date, for less than 300 people per day on a site capable of hosting several thousand. This is an absurd situation for the public, the organisers and disrespectful for the artists. Who wants this?
The second option is to postpone the festival. This is the option we have chosen, in consultation with the headliners.
You should know that today, as organisers, we are sad. We have put human, financial and emotional resources into this programme. We were looking forward to welcoming bands that we love and respect. Everything was ready for the festival: the site, the tents, the technical equipment, the teams...
Those who bought their tickets can now ask Ticketmaster for a refund if they don't want to wait for the details of the rescheduling. Thank you all for your understanding. And thank you for supporting the music, the events and the organisers."

Echter één opmerking hierover: de headliners wisten helemaal van niks, geen "consultation" dus (Tarja, Lacuna Coil). Zij kregen gewoon een dag eerder te horen dat het festival niet meer doorging.
