Eind september bracht de Franse psychedelic / stoner / rock band Glowsun hun nieuwe CD Eternal Season uit via Napalm Records. Hoogtijd om eens met deze Fransen een babbel te slaan over hun nieuwe werk.

Where did the inspiration for the album come from?

Well, our inspirations come from our different musical route. But it is pretty difficult to say exactly where we find it, you know we hear all three styles with different way by more or less favorite things according to our moods.

How does the writing process in the band unfold?  Do you start from jam sessions or do you use another approach?

Yes indeed, we extended jam and record much. Then we listen and work together on the development plans that seem good for a title. Of course, it is very important that each of us feel good with all the plans. This is very important when you play every night  the same tracks, you have to love what you do.

I really liked the sound/production on the album. Can you tell us a little bit about the recording process and the gear you use?

In fact, it is quite typical as a process, we start with the battery taken that hard a time because it is really important that everything is in place on this side tempo, rythm etc. ....

After it is turn the bass, then the guitar, vocals  and arrangements. We worked with Oliver t'Servrancx with whom we recorded our first album "the sundering?" It was very interesting to re-work with him he integrates well our universe and our wishes expressed listens on the mix. Once again this is a very important choice in the production of an album, as the choice for mastering and as the sound engineer we chose Goran Finnberg who had worked on "the sundering" for "eternal season" this guy brings key final procesus and as you can hear it sends big sound!

What are your ambitions with “Eternal Season”?

We hope that the group will grow even more and of course do more concerts festivals etc ....

How did the “Up in Smoke” tour with Monkey 3 go?

We have spend moments really fun on the tour with the team, of course with Monkey 3 because we speak French so it's more easy for joke, but also with Grandloom, yes it was really cool time!

Are you planning other live dates (in Belgium)?

For now, not yet, may be something in January, we are working on the next dates with Sound Liberation of booking, but do not worried we will come soon in Belgium, we love belgium and play for us too this is a very important country you know our first Belgian label was Buzzville!

Your music is mostly labeled  as “stoner rock”. What do you think of this tag?

Ah! the famous label "stoner", well no one really knows what that means exactly, "stoner" Stonerrock "" desert rock "etc etc ..... This allows to define a style, there are many groups that we like that are related to the "stoner" or us that we do not mind to be classified as a "stoner".

From which band do you take your inspiration from?

It is not easy to say because for us this is our music, we did not feel to be directly inspired not one group or another. But of course we love bands such as: The Heads, Fu Manchu, Yawning Man, Witch and many others so it is logical that sometimes the listener finds some influences in our music. But you know sometimes comparisons are quite nice and well sometimes it we laugh!

Finally, can you name five albums any reader of our webzine should own.

"The Time is Now" The Heads
"Let it Burn" Nebula
"Sound of Liberation" Ché
"Inside the Acid Temple" Liquid Sound Compagny
"Age of Winters" The Sword
