Nieuwe Braziliaans/Nederlandse band Crypta brengt eerste single uit
Crypta is een (relatief nieuwe) Braziliaans/Nederlandse deathmetalband. Anno 2021 zou een all-female band in geen enkel muzikaal (sub)genre nog een curiositeit mogen zijn, dus ook binnen de deathmetal niet. Dus daar gaan we ons bijgevolg dan ook niet of focussen. Belangrijker is hun eerste, uitstekende single From the Ashes.
De al minstens even geweldige videoclip die daarbij hoort kunt u hier terugvinden.
De line-up van Crypta bestaat trouwens niet uit onbekenden. Bassiste/zangeres Fernanda Lira en drumster Luana Dametto lieten begin 2020 nog Prika Amaral een beetje verdweesd achter in Nervosa en gitariste Sonia Anubis kennen we nog van bij Burning Witches. De andere gitariste Tainá Bergamaschi heeft dan misschien een iets kleiner cv, ze kan toch een fameus potje snarenplukken.
Crypta vond onderdak in de Napalm stal en zal daar op 11 Juni hun debuut Echoes of the Soul uitbrengen. De eerste single daaruit, From the Ashes, klinkt in elk geval al lekker veelbelovend. Een brute, rauwe maar tegelijkertijd ook bijzonder melodieuze track. Maar wat bijzonder opvalt is de professionaliteit die van de bijhorende clip uitgaat. Een clip geregisseerd door André Gustavo (bekend van de serie Crônicas da Pandemia).
Fernanda Lira over de eerste single:
"The song is basically about the well-known tale of the phoenix, but in a more philosophical sense. It talks about the ever-changing cycles of life, about the many endings and beginnings we have to go through, about how many old versions of ourselves need to figuratively die in order for us to keep growing and evolving as human beings, and finally, about building resilience to endure all these rebirths."
The first audiovisual work immediately takes the viewer into the funeral spectra of CRYPTA’s universe and also reveals full commitment on a cinematographic level. The track itself is an infernal omen of the album's sinister stories and already presents a first spark of their impressive interplay: Lira’s forceful vocals, Anubis and Bergamaschi’s bold axe attacks and Dametto’s prominent sophisticated drumming summon the phoenix to rise from the ashes - with the last crackle of this debut full-length conjuring screams for more.
