Spotlight: While Oceans Burn (FR)

While Oceans Burn kwam met hun debuut single Trauma in ons vizier. Deze heren brengen een geweldadige mix van brute vocals, blast beats en woeste breakdowns. Fans van Currents, Bury Tomorrow, Architects en Like Moths, To Flames zullen hun hartje kunnen ophalen bij While Oceans Burn. 

While Oceans Burn, opgericht in 2022 in de regio Bordeaux, is een moderne metalband.
Beïnvloed door bands als Wage War, Make Them Suffer en Fit For A King biedt de band een subtiele mix van geweld en melodie.
De teksten gaan in op ecologische thema's en dualiteit. Ze hebben ondertussen 2 singles uitgebracht Trauma & The Sun Never Rises, beluister via Spotify of bekijk via YouTube.
While Oceans Burn heeft ook zonet bekend gemaakt dat ze op 13 juni een nieuwe videoclip uitbrengen! 

Bandleden

Morgan-Lead Vocals :"I've been a lead screamer for more than 15 years now. With my previous band "Up To The End" we've played with Betraying the Martyrs, Wage War and Polar. I'm a tattoo artist (@moshean.ttt) and I've designed our logo + merch + cd. I do some vocal cover on my instagram (@morgan.moshean) and I'm influenced by bands like Betraying the Martyrs, Make Them Suffer, Crystal Lake or Gideon."

Axel - Guitar : "Guitarist since 2006, I've played in many bands (rock/metal) when I was living in Paris. With the last one, we've been the support band for Our Last Night, Counterparts, Senses Fail or Heights for their farewell show in Paris. My biggest influences are bands like Counterparts, While She Sleeps, The Devil Wears Prada and recently Hollow Front."

Romain - Guitar : "I started to learn guitar when I was ten but actually this is my first band ever, so everything is a kind of new experience for me. First band, first record, first merch, first show and I'm really excited about this. My influences are Malevolence, Deftones, Pantera, Periphery ..."

Fantin - Bass : "I've been playing bass since 16 years but I'm also a guitar, drum and cello player. I've been in many kinds of bands, heavy metal, jazz, funk. And now I'm here bringing my different influences from Megadeth to Parkway Drive, Crisix or Viscera. I'm also a huge fan of Dirty Loops, Joss Stone and Ibrahim Maalouf."

Kevin - Drums : "I've been a drummer since I'm 5 and stopped around 15 but I really got back into it when I was 23. I'm endorsed by Los Cabos Drumstick and I'm playing in a Hard Rock band called Burning Jake. Since I'm a teenager I've been inspired by bands like Avenged Sevenfold, Falling in Reverse or Bullet for My Valentine and more recently I Prevail or Ice Nine Kills."

How was it to shoot your first music video for "Trauma"

While Oceans Burn:"For three of us it was our first music video so it was something very special. We decided to shoot on our own in our bassist dad's warehouse with some blue and red lights lend by Axel's boss. It took us more than 8 hours of filming to do it. We began at 10pm and ended around 7am. We were all really happy for this new experience but exhausted as fuck!"

"Trauma" got over 10 000 views in just a month! How do you guys feel about that?

While Oceans Burn:"We're really proud of this, our friends and family are a big support for us and are always sharing our songs. We've worked on this single to make something we believed in and people seem to appreciate so we cannot be more happy with that!"

You guys have been working on your debut EP for more than a year, how does it feel to finally share it with the world?

While Oceans Burn:"We are so excited ! We received our EP master on October 2022, so it's been a while and we couldn't wait to share this with everyone but we needed time to shoot our two music videos and create our visualizer. Everything is made on our own except all the studio parts. Tom from Satanic Beats and Félix from Soundgrind studio have done something lit with our songs. Hope you will like it!"

How did you guys came up with the band name?

While Oceans Burn:"Morgan and Axel already had this band idea when they were in their previous band. We wanted to have something with a metalcore'ish sound like As I Lay Dying, Miss May I, All That Remains etc... And we combined that with our will to talk about ecology and boom like the Powerpuff Girls, While Oceans Burn was born !"

What is the message behind "Trauma"?

While Oceans Burn:"Trauma is the core of our band, as I told you, it talks about ecology and how the earth feels about all the shit we're doing on it. You have to read the lyrics as a monologue relate by the Earth itself. You can feel all the complexity of this coexistence with the quote "while population grows, I'm screaming my despair"

What is the story behind "The Sun Never Rises"?

While Oceans Burn:"As you will understand with our third single "Come Rain or Come Shine", we often speak about ecology but duality is a real part of our lyrics too. "The Sun Never Rises" speaks about duality but mostly about how rude people are with each others. It talks about how deep you can fall due to others but we wanted to talk about how you have to leave these toxic relations and fight for yourself. It's a bit cliché, but we all live with this."
